  1. Walking History Tour of Greenmount Cemetery (Registration Required)

    Join local historian Todd Ellison for a guided walking tour of our own Greenmount Cemetery. Learn about the cemetery's various historic sections and about dozens of individuals who have shaped the history of our community. This tour builds on Ellison's years of work archivally documenting the 12-14,000 plots at Greenmount. We will be meeting at 10:00 a.m. in the parking lot to the right of the entrance to Greenmount Cemetery, 900 Cemetery Road. Please park at the Moore Parks Shop (where you will also find bathroom facilities). Registration also includes a copy of the Biographical Walking Tour of Greenmount Cemetery brochure and cemetery map.

  3. Great Decisions: China and the U.S.

    For the past ten years, the United States and China have been locked in a competition for who has the greatest global influence. One major point of contention is the status of Taiwanese sovereignty, which has become even more relevant recently with the possibility that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine may prompt China to take similar action regarding Taiwan. How will the United States engage a China which is increasingly seeking to expand its sphere of influence? Presented by the League of Women Voters of La Plata County, Great Decisions is an annual nonpartisan briefing book that covers eight foreign policy topics. There are discussion programs around the country based on the material in the book.

    Need a little tech help? Questions on how to use email, Internet, basic Office apps? Would you like to learn more about library databases and streaming services (Overdrive-Libby and Hoopla)? Then sign up today! The library offers free 1-hr tutoring sessions with a member of our IT staff. Please be sure to bring any account passwords (email, Amazon, etc...) that you may need so we can assist you. Please be sure your device is fully charged or that you bring the charging cable with you. If you don't have a device we can provide a Windows laptop or Chromebook for you. Be sure to tell us what type of help you need so we can prepare for your session. Be sure to tell us what type of device you are bringing to work with, phone, tablet, laptop..etc. We can provide very limited assistance for MacBook users, please be detailed when answering the "What type of help needed" question if you will bring a MacBook for your tutoring session.
