April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month! You may have seen or heard about CDOT's new distracted driving awareness campaign, Distraction Reactions. According to CDOT, "92% of Coloradoans admit to driving distracted weekly," which means most of us have been distracted drivers.
More than 15,000 crashes in Colorado in 2019 involved a distracted driver. Unfortunately, many of you probably have a story about a time you were biking, walking or rolling and had a close call with a distracted driver. The city's multimodal administrator, Devin King, recalls an incident where he was almost sandwiched on his bike between two vehicles while turning at an intersection. Both drivers were on their phones. Distracted driving is especially dangerous to our more vulnerable road users such as pedestrians or bicyclists.
