Durango, CO: The city of Durango has published the draft of the 2023 Multimodal Transportation Plan to receive input from the public and is requesting comments be submitted by Nov. 21. The plan guides the implementation of transportation projects to move Durango towards a transportation network that integrates all modes of travel and makes transportation more equitable and safer. This plan update focuses on aligning the plan with the Safe Systems Approach and what the Federal Highway Administration defines as an action plan.
The city of Durango launched the Multimodal Transportation Plan update in 2021 with public outreach to gather community feedback on the existing plan and transportation needs. Outreach was completed in 2022 and included 14 meetings and events and received 458 comments. The city contracted a consultant at the end of 2022 to assist with updating the plan. There were three stakeholder meetings during 2023 to review and provide feedback on key elements of the plan. This request for input is the last public engagement opportunity for the plan update.
City staff will take comments submitted from the public and the stakeholder group and address the plan as appropriate before taking the final plan back to City Council on December 5 for adoption. The city web page has a comment form to make submitted comments regarding the plan simpler.
