No other waste will be accepted, and no more than two truckloads will be picked up from each residence. Materials can be set out up to a week before your area is scheduled for collection. Once crews collect along your street, they will not return. Materials should be placed in the alley for collection or curbside in areas where there are not alleys.

Heavy equipment is used to load waste into trucks. To assist city crews, place clean up items and brush at least two feet from fences, trees, bushes, gas meters, hydrants, power poles and connection boxes. If your pile cannot be safely picked up it will be left in place. Please do not block driving lanes or sidewalks.

Fall and Spring Cleanup services are provided by the city of Durango’s Streets Division and are paid for by a fee collected on residents’ monthly utility bills. Only residents who pay for city trash service (households with a single trash container) are eligible to participate. Material placed by those who are not eligible, or material placed outside a designated area/time, is considered illegal dumping. If you observe or suspect illegal dumping in your neighborhood, please report it at (970) 385-2900.

You can sign up to receive trash, recycling and spring/fall cleanup reminders at DurangoGov.org/Trash. Type in your home address to view a collection calendar and sign up for reminders via email, phone or text.

Tree materials can be useful as compost and mulch. Residents who need leaves for compost are encouraged to pick up bags left curbside during Fall Cleanup. Branches picked up by the city will be chipped and given away to residents for mulch.
