Durango, CO: Durango Transit will offer free transit service this summer. All transit routes and services will be free to all users from June 1 through August 31. Free transit is funded through the local Lodgers’ Tax and Colorado’s Ozone Season Transit Grant Program.
This opportunity is designed to remove barriers and encourage the use of public transportation, to improve traffic congestion during the busy summer months, and to reduce carbon emissions in the region.
“We are excited to offer free services during the summer months as we continue to make sustainable transportation more accessible and convenient for Durango residents and visitors,” said Sarah Hill, Transportation Director. “This is an opportunity for us to showcase the many benefits of public transportation in our community.”
Durango Transit offers real-time bus tracking and trip planning on the free app, TransLoc. Every bus is ADA-accessible and equipped with bicycle racks. Routes serve all areas within Durango city limits, seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Detailed route maps and rider information can be found at DurangoTransit.com
Durango Transit encourages all members of the community to take advantage of the opportunity to use public transportation to help reduce their carbon footprint. For more information, please visit DurangoTransit.com or call (970) 259-5438.
