Durango, CO: The Durango Police Department is cordoning off a small area downtown in response to a potential pipe bomb reported in the alley behind Carver's restaurant.
An item was located which resembles a pipe bomb, but initial analysis points to the bomb being a fake. As a precautionary measure the police department has reached out to Farmington police to send a bomb squad to verify whether the device is functional. Barricades have been placed on East Second Avenue between 10th and 11th Streets, and on 10th and 11th between Main Avenue and East Second Avenue.
The area is expected to be off limits for the next few hours. In addition to the Durango police, responders also included the La Plata County Sheriff's Office and the Durango Fire Protection District.
