Durango, CO: The city of Durango’s first council meetings in the new year, scheduled Jan. 3, will see a discussion regarding 2023 goals for Durango Mesa Park at the afternoon study session, and a public hearing regarding a new housing project for the Mercury Village development in the regular meeting.
In 2023 the Durango Mesa Park foundation and city staff plan to make great strides in the development of Durango Mesa Park, including emergency access construction, a completed bike park master plan, and determine cost updates for roadways and utilities.
Tuesday’s study session will also include discussions with Durango Trails regarding its plans in the new year. The final agenda item for the study session will see councilors meet with Willdan Financial Services, a contractor that the city has hired to conduct a water rate study in 2023.
At the regular meeting councilors will review and vote on a request made by the developers of Mercury Village lot 1, located at 150 Mercury Village Drive, to be subdivided into three different lots to allow for residential and mixed-use zoning. Current plans for development include three apartment buildings that will provide approximately 23 units per acre.
On Tuesday night council will also be interviewing candidates for an interim city attorney, while the search continues to fill that position permanently.
