Durango, CO: Incumbent councilor Kim Baxter has announced that she will not run for re-election in April.

“I am saying this now in time for potential candidates to have about a month to make their decision to run for council,” she wrote in a newsletter to her supporters. “The campaign process begins in mid-January with packet pick-up and petition circulation.”

Baxter moved to Durango in 2009 and served on the Natural Lands Preservation Board, Multi Modal Advisory Committee and Planning Commission. She is a small-business owner and a walnut farmer whose career and education was focused on finance.

“Since I was elected as a City Councilor in 2019, the City organization has made significant progress toward expanding and enhancing the characteristics of our town that create the exceptional quality of life we all share, and to foster a vital, vibrant economy,” she wrote.

For more information on the April election, email the City Clerk at clerk@durangogov.org  or call (970) 375-5010.
