[ARCHIVED] Lake Nighthorse Wibit Aqua Park closing for the season

Swim Beach Closure

Durango, CO:  Monday, Sept. 5 (Labor Day) is the last day the Wibit Aqua Park will be open at Lake Nighthorse. Work to remove the floating structure for winter storage will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 6. Portions of the swim beach will be closed during this process. See map attached.

The Wibit will be cleaned using watercraft decontamination equipment. As a result, watercraft decontaminations will not be available Tuesday, Sept. 6 through Thursday, Sept. 9.

Watercraft with green seals and corresponding receipts indicating they do not need a decontamination will be allowed to launch. Exit inspections to apply green seals upon leaving Lake Nighthorse will be available.

“This season marked the second year the Wibit Aqua Park was open,” said Amy Schwarzbach, natural resources manager. “Wibit visitation was great again this year, with many new families and groups coming to Lake Nighthorse to enjoy this amenity. Lake staff have received incredible feedback which we’ll be taking into account as we plan for reopening the Wibit next season.”

For more information about watercraft inspections and decontaminations, call the lake at (970) 375-7335 or visit DurangoGov.org/LakeNighthorse
