Businesses in the City of Durango will soon be able to manage sales/use/lodgers’ tax/business licenses and make payments online. The city is in the process of implementing MuniRevs software, which will streamline licensing, tax filing and sales tax payments.
Other benefits to customers include automated email reminders and the ability to view license history and other information online.
“We’re confident businesses in the city will enjoy the switch to this online paperless system,” Finance Director Cynthia Sneed said.
During the transfer to the new software program, the system will be down for a few weeks. License applications and renewals will not be processed from Monday, March 21 through Sunday, April 3. If there are urgent licensing needs, call the Durango City Clerk’s office at 970-375-5010.
Sales tax payments will remain the same through Sunday, April 3. On Monday, April 4, businesses will be able to pay sales tax online with the new software. For sales tax questions, contact the Finance sales tax office at 970-375-5033. All registered businesses will receive a MuniRevs registration letter via mail and email.
The self-service online application system will be easier than the paper application system the city currently uses. In addition, the system will be easier for those with multiple business or owners who live out of state.
“The system will pull everyone’s information and will be all in one place,” said Deputy Clerk Ben Florine.
