[ARCHIVED] City residents can apply for Utility Refund and/or Food Tax Rebate starting March 14

Applications for the Food Tax Rebate Program and the Utility Refund Program will be available starting Monday, March 14. City residents with a total household income no greater than 50% of the Area Median Family Income for La Plata County may qualify for a refund or rebate. The refund and rebate amount is determined by family size, as published by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for 2021.

  • To qualify for the Utility Refund Program: Residents who owned and occupied a home within Durango city limits, received city of Durango utility services and resided in that home on Dec. 31 and for at least 10 months during 2021 are eligible to apply. The applicant must apply for all family members within the household and must list all family members and their income, if applicable. To apply for the refund, you must meet all program requirements in the application.

  • Only residents who lived within the city limits for the full 12 months of 2021 are eligible to apply for the Food Tax Rebate Program. La Plata County residents living outside city limits are not eligible. The applicant must apply for all family members within the household and must list all family members and identify related income for each family member.  Applicants must meet all program requirements in the application.

Applications are available at City Hall (949 E 2nd Ave), Transit Center (250 W 8th St), and the Senior Center (2424 Main Ave).   The application is also available on the city’s website at DurangoGov.org/Rebates.  All forms and supporting documents must be submitted by July 8, 2022.
