The community is invited to provide feedback on the replacement of the little tow rope at Chapman Hill during an open house Tuesday, Feb. 22 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Chapman Hill Ice Rink Lobby. Community members can also provide feedback online via a short survey.
Durango Parks and Recreation is planning the replacement of the little tow rope per the 2018 Chapman Hill Ski Area Master Plan. Staff will be gathering input from the community on possible alternatives for lift type and location for a new little tow rope. There are two rope tows at Chapman Hill; the meeting will focus on the smaller of the two.
“The community may have different ideas for the little tow replacement than were considered in 2018,” said Ture Nycum, Director of Parks and Recreation. “We want to make sure we are exploring all options for a little tow that works with current operations and demand at Chapman Hill.”
Once a preferred alternative is selected, the city will work towards removing the existing little tow and installing a new system prior to the 2023 ski season. For more information about the open house, call (970) 375-7300 or email rec@DurangoGov.org.
