Durango, CO: The City of Durango has permanently anchored the Google Translate button into DurangoGov.org to allow visitors to choose from more than 100 languages.
"It’s a great translation tool for the public to read our online content,” said Tom Sluis, director of Media and Community Engagement for the city. “By anchoring the translation function to the top of the page, we are able to extend our reach to non-English speaking residents.”
Previously the translation tool’s location and appearance on the page was dependent on the browser used. It will now be located next to the search bar at the top of the page, no matter what browser is used.
Some items, such as text on images, cannot be translated through Google Translate.
The city’s website received nearly 1.4 million pageviews in 2021 and is a clearinghouse of information for city services. For more information about Google Translate, visit support.google.com/translate.
