Join the city of Durango in celebrating sustainable transportation with Winter Bike to Work Day on Friday, Feb. 11 and the Business Commuter Challenge Feb. 6 to Feb. 11.
Bike, walk, roll, carpool or ride Durango Transit to one of five stations around Durango from 7 to 9 a.m. Pick up a Winter Bike to Work Day shirt and enjoy the various offerings at each station while supplies last. The five stations include Studio &, Singletrack Café (both locations), Bird’s and San Juan Cycles. Free safety checks will be offered by San Juan Cycles and Durango Cyclery at the Studio & station. Pick up or print out a passport and visit two or more stations to get a stamp and be entered into a prize drawing. See a map of the stations at GetAroundDurango.com
“Many people in our community clean commute year-round. Whether it’s by choice or out of necessity, it takes a hearty soul to get out in the cold of winter, and we want to celebrate that,” said Devin King, multimodal administrator. “The event name highlights bikes, but Winter Bike to Work Day is a celebration for all clean commuters in Durango.”
Need more challenge? Sign up your business or organization to compete in the Business Commuter Challenge. See who can bike, bus, walk, roll, carpool or ride Durango Transit the most between Sunday, Feb. 6 and Friday, Feb. 11. The team logging the most trips will receive the Business Commuter Challenge snowflake trophy and bragging rights! Sign up your business or organization by Wednesday, Feb. 2 by emailing Devin King.
Join us for a celebration at Union Social House on Friday, Feb. 11 at 5 p.m. where we’ll announce the winners of the Snowflake trophy, raffle off prizes and provide information and gather feedback about the Multimodal Transportation Plan update process.
