Durango Transit is seeking transit operators to join a team that thousands rely on each day to get around Durango and is offering bonuses of up to $5,000 to help maintain and expand transit routes.
“Durango Transit operators make an impact in our community by getting people to work, school, and appointments every day,” said Sarah Hill, Transportation Director. “We are looking forward to expanding routes in 2022 and rely on our team of transit operators to make that happen.”
The sign-on initiative is as follows:
- Transit operators hired by 1/31/2022, receive a $5,000 sign-on bonus: $2,500 paid at 90 days employment and the remainder $2,500 paid at 1-year anniversary date.
- Paid CDL training and testing, if needed.
Full-time City employees are eligible for many benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, retirement benefits and other city perks.
Part-time employees are eligible for one of the following as part of this initiative:
- $350/month incentive for up to twelve months if scheduled or available to work at least 10 day/month.
Current transit drivers will also be eligible for retention benefits.
The recruitment and retention efforts will be funded entirely with the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA) for transit. Durango Transit was awarded $1.376 million in CRRSAA to maintain and expand transit in response to the impacts of COVID-19.
