City Parks Turf Fertilization and Weed Abatement Schedule

The City of Durango promotes Best Management Practices in the stewardship of City lands to ensure the safe enjoyment of parks in the community. The City will be applying turf fertilizer to the following facilities:

  • Smith Sports Complex on Wednesday, August 5
  • Fanto Park (organic fertilizer) on Tuesday, August 11
  • Needham Park (organic fertilizer) on Tuesday, August 11
  • Brookside Park (organic fertilizer) on Tuesday, August 11
  • Schneider Park (organic fertilizer) on Wednesday, August 12
  • Folsom Park (organic fertilizer) on Wednesday, August 12
  • Pioneer Park (organic fertilizer) on Thursday, August 13

The City has contracted with Scott’s Pro-Lawn for turf fertilization and noxious weed abatement. The herbicide that will be used is called Vessel Broadleaf Herbicide and Q4 Turf Herbicide. Applications are conducted to improve the quality of parks in the City’s system. The weed control is repeatedly tested and approved by the Environmental Protection Agency, and Scott’s Pro-Lawn is licensed by the Colorado Department of Agriculture. Scott’s Pro-Lawn will be applying turf fertilization and weed abatement to:

  • Whitewater Park at Santa Rita Park on Friday, August 7
