The Center of Southwest Studies has updated display cases at the Durango Public Library with fresh selections representing local culture and history. The cases, located on the second floor, feature artwork, memorabilia and pieces highlighting the region’s ranching, archaeology and cycling traditions as well as the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. The displays also showcase Southwest textile traditions and contemporary sculptures by Fort Lewis College alumni Terry Gasdia (Hopi/Akimel O'odahm).
The Center of Southwest Studies at Fort Lewis College connects individuals and communities with opportunities to explore, study and experience the Southwest's dynamic heritage. Display cases for the Library exhibits are made possible by funding from Richard and Mary Lyn Ballantine. For more information, visit DurangoGov.org/Library.
