Parks and Recreation Triathlons

Durango Parks and Recreation created a practical race for the beginner triathlete as well as the seasoned veteran, looking to complete a competitive training course. Adult Triathlon -  July 20, 2019

The Sprint Triathlon is designed for the beginner triathlete and the seasoned veteran. The event lengths are: 500 yard swim (two per lane, no circle swimming), 13 mile road bike, 5 kilometer (3.1 miles) run. Bicycles must pass a safety inspection on race day and all participants must wear a helmet during the bike ride. Closed toed shoes are required during the bike ride and running portions of the race.  Following the race, gather at the Recreation Center with friends and family to share in the success of the day. Awards and prizes will be presented and refreshments will be available to all participants.

No race day registrations will be accepted. 

  • Early Registration: until July 14, 6:00 pm
    • Individual:  $60
    • Team:  $120
  • Late Registration: July 15 - 18, 12:00 pm
    • Individual:  $75
    • Team:  $135

Kid's Triathlon

The Kid’s Triathlon provides children of all ages and ability levels with a safe and unique athletic experience. Children swim, bike and run an age-appropriate triathlon course, which begins and ends at the Durango Recreation Center. Bicycles must pass a safety inspection on race day and all participants must wear a helmet during the bike ride. Closed toed shoes are required during the bike ride and running portions of the race.

  • Ages 5 - 6: 50 yard swim, 1 mile bike, ¼ mile run
  • Ages 7 - 8: 100 yard swim, 5k (3.1 miles) bike, 1k (.6 miles) run
  • Ages 9 - 10: 100 yard swim, 5k (3.1 miles) bike, 1k (.6 miles) run
  • Ages 11-13: 200 yard swim, 10k (6.2 miles) bike, 2k (1.2 miles) run

No race day registrations will be accepted.
