CITY OF DURANGO SNOW REMOVAL
The city of Durango's fleet of snowplowing equipment is readied as soon as snow is forecast. Snowplowing and sanding is done whenever it is needed, 24 hours a day. After 5:00 p.m., on weekends and on holidays, citizens are asked to call the Police Dispatch non-emergency number, 385-2900, to report icy conditions.
Snow Routes
Citizens may park on Snow Routes, but when snow starts to
accumulate they should find alternate parking places. These
routes are indicated by Snow Route signs. When street conditions
warrant, a Red Alert will be declared. A Red Alert means no
parking is allowed on Snow Routes. Any vehicles parked on
Snow Routes during a Red Alert may be towed at the owners'
expense. A Green Alert means parking is allowed. Information
will be provided by radio announcements or residents may call
the 24-hour Snow Hotline at 375-4844 for a recorded message
on Snow Route status.
College Hill
There are gates located at the top of the hill and at the intersection of 8th Avenue and 8th
Street. When the Fort Lewis College security personnel determine that the road is too dangerous for vehicular traffic, the gates will be locked and alternate routes must be used. Flashing lights at the corner of 8th Avenue and 8th Street indicate when the road is closed. Goeglein Drive via
College Drive should then be used for access to Fort Lewis.
My Car Was Towed - Now What?
If you believe the City may have towed your car, call the Police Department at 385-2900 to find out where it has been taken.
