RECYCLE PLASTIC BOTTLES!

All plastic bottles -- and only bottles -- will be collected for recycling. Other kinds of plastic items will not be collected.

What’s a bottle? Check for the Neck! Recycle bottles, jars and jugs with openings that are smaller than the base (or widest part).

RECYCLING PLASTIC BOTTLES IS EASY. HERE’S HOW:

  • Make sure your plastic container has an opening that is smaller than rest of the container. Acceptable plastics generally have screw tops.
  • Remove and throw away caps, lids and pumps.
  • Empty contents. Rinse thoroughly. You don’t need to remove labels.
  • Crush plastic bottles by carefully stepping on them so they take up less room in the recycling container. Hold onto something steady so you don’t slip.
  • Place empty, uncapped and flattened plastic bottles in a paper bag inside your curbside recycling bin or use a separate box placed next to the blue bin. At the drop-off sites, simply place the bottles in the barrel that is designated for plastics.

Recycled plastics are turned into many cool products. For example, your soda bottle could become carpeting, fleece, pillow stuffing, a t-shirt or a new plastic container. And, your milk jug could become a plastic lumber deck, park bench or garden furniture.
