Mission
The Durango/La Plata Emergency Communications Center is dedicated to provide public safety communications services to its member agencies and their citizens. We are dedicated to maintain a helpful, friendly attitude at all times and to relay the most accurate information possible. Durango~La Plata Emergency Communications Center is the vital link between the citizens of Durango and La Plata County and emergency response services. We are capable and caring individuals who are doing important and satisfying work for the citizens and visitors to the La Plata County area.
The Durango/La Plata Emergency Communications Center provides twenty-four hour service to the public and user agencies by receiving and relaying information and coordinating communications between agencies by radio, telephone, and computer for both emergency and non-emergency situations.
When a 9-1-1 call comes into the Center, with its distinctive ring, everyone is made aware that someone is calling for immediate help. This call for help may be the only call that can literally save a life and may also involve four or five different agencies that need immediate dispatching.
