THE FORESTRY
DIVISION maintains approximately 7,128 urban trees
and regularly plants adaptable trees to attain a diverse
and healthy urban forest. In
2004, The City of Durango Parks and Recreation Department
completed an up-to-date urban
forest tree inventory of
all City-owned and managed trees. This
inventory is intended to give an accurate estimate of condition,
number of trees, and reevaluate tree management needs in
the City of Durango.
This
division publishes its own "Tree,
Shrub and Perennial Selection and Care Guide"
which is available at the Parks & Recreation office, located
in the Durango Community Recreation Center, 2700 Main
Avenue.
