Sewer taps into the city's mains are made by licensed plumbers, after they obtain a permit from the City of Durango. The tap must be inspected before back filling the excavation. Sewer tap inspection fee is $15.00
If a property owner desires sewer service to property located outside the city limits, but within the city's service area, the owner must secure an Implied Consent Agreement requires the property owner to petition the City of Durango to annex the subject property when the property becomes eligible for annexation. The agreement also required the developer to develop the property in accordance with city development standards. The owner must obtain a La Plata County building permit prior to his payment of plant investment fees to the City of Durango.
