Considerations for Special Events
Things to consider when planning an event:
- Pre- and post-activity meetings with the Special Events Coordinator
- Obtaining a noise variance permit, if amplified sound is to be used
- City business and sales tax licenses are required
- Barricades and cones for traffic control
- Activity vests or orange safety vests, staff ID, etc.
- Traffic control plan
- Parking near the event, and additional off-site parking and shuttle, if needed
- Petition affected businesses for support
- Security for activity and parking area
- Port-A-Potties – one per each 150 people over a 4-hour period during activity
- Electrical power (subject to inspection)
- First aid station
- Trash/waste/recycling disposal during and after the activity
- Green practices to minimize impacts of your event
- Contact San Juan Basin Health Department regarding food booths
