Considerations for Special Events

Things to consider when planning an event:

  • Pre- and post-activity meetings with the Special Events Coordinator
  • Obtaining a noise variance permit, if amplified sound is to be used
  • City business and sales tax licenses are required
  • Barricades and cones for traffic control
  • Activity vests or orange safety vests, staff ID, etc.
  • Traffic control plan
  • Parking near the event, and additional off-site parking and shuttle, if needed
  • Petition affected businesses for support
  • Security for activity and parking area
  • Port-A-Potties – one per each 150 people over a 4-hour period during activity
  • Electrical power (subject to inspection)
  • First aid station
  • Trash/waste/recycling disposal during and after the activity
  • Green practices to minimize impacts of your event
  • Contact San Juan Basin Health Department regarding food booths
  • Press releases
