Banner Permits
To qualify for a banner permit, an organization or entity making application must be:
- Incorporated under the laws of Colorado for purposes of a social, fraternal, patriotic, or athletic nature and not for pecuniary gain;
- A regularly chartered branch, lodge, or chapter of a national non-profit organization or society which is organized for social, fraternal, patriotic, cultural or athletic purposes.
Application Procedures
1. The banner permit application must be submitted at least three (3) weeks prior to installation. For more information call 970-375-4930.
2. Banners promoting events sponsored or affiliated with religious organizations will be allowed. Banners intended to promote or inhibit a specific religion shall not be allowed.
3. All banners must:
- Be accompanied by the necessary hardware for installation (carabineers in each top grommet, ties at each corner)
- Have wind holes cut
- Have grommets along the bottom with a rope run through them and a loop extending on each end
- not exceed 4 feet high by 24 feet long
- have two rows of "U" shaped wind holes (6" x 6") cut no more than 24" apart and equally spaced throughout the banner
- have grommets along the bottom with a rope or cable run through them and a loop extending on each end
The City of Durango reserves the right to refuse to hang a banner determined unsafe.
5. Banners must be delivered to the City Service Center, 105 Sawyer St. one (1) week before the day it is to be hung (the preceding Monday). Banners will be installed on Mondays only. Banners will be hung only when wind and weather conditions allow.
6. Banners must be picked up immediately after the removal date. Unclaimed banners will be disposed of.
