ART North Extension
The Animas River Trail is the primary community trail corridor that runs parallel to the Animas River within the City of Durango.  The trail corridor is the connection that links the north, downtown and southern sections of the community together.  Community discussion on the extension of the Animas River Trail began in 2008 and a proposed final alignment for a northern extension of the Animas river Trail was developed in 2010-2011 through an extensive public process.  The City Council and the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board have established 2017 to begin implementation of the proposed north extension of the Animas River Trail.

With Community support, the City of Durango continues to extend the Animas River Trail for better connectivity to all of Durango and surrounding trail systems. The Public will continue to participate in the development of each section of the Animas River Trail as it moves forward north of 32nd Street.
