Single Stream Recycling Service Guidelines

Single Stream Recycling Collection Time, Schedule & Location
View the single stream recycling collection schedule and map for more information on your recycling day. If your trash is normally picked up in the alley, your recyclable must still be placed at the curb.

  • Single Stream Recycling will be collected once per week on your designated recycling day.
  • Recycling will be collected curbside.
  • Set your single stream recycling container out by 8:00 am on your recycling day.
  • Containers must be removed from the public right-of-way no later than 8 pm on the day of collection.
  • For proper collection, please allow 4 feet of clearance on all sides of your recycling container.
  • Obstructions such as cars, fences, poles, and other items can prevent the automated trucks from emptying your container.
  • Set your recycling container in the street with the wheels against the curb and the front facing the street.
  • The automated trucks cannot service containers that are set out backwards.
  • Please place recyclable loose and unbagged in your curbside recycling container.

Review What Can Be Recycled

Please review what can be recycled before you set your curbside recycling container out for collection.

  • The City of Durango accepts paperboard or chipboard, plastics #1-#7 and cartons. Review what can be recycled for the list of the products that are accepted in the City’s single stream recycling program.
  • There are items that cannot be recycled curbside in the City’s single stream recycling program. These products include: glass, plastic bags and plastic film, non-recyclable plastics, scrap metal, cross-cut/confetti style shredded paper.
  • Glass is not collected curbside. Glass can be recycled at the Durango Recycle Center for free.
  • Please refrain from putting products that are not accepted in the City's single stream recycling program in your curbside recycling container or in the single stream recycling containers at the City’s Recycling Center.

Please follow these service guidelines for participating in the City of Durango’s Curbside Recycling Program. If you need additional assistance, please call (970) 375-5004 or email.
