Durango Parks and Recreation organizes and hosts an assortment of special events for all ages and varying interests.

2018 Special Events Schedule
  • Easter Egg Scramble: Saturday, March 31, at 9:45 a.m.
    Meet at Smith Sports Complex - 700 Talon Lane
  • Narrow Horse 1500 Meter Swim: Friday, May 26. Contact Suzanne Schieltz at 970.779.8643 for more information.
  • Tear It Up For Tyler Skate Competition: Saturday, June 3, at 11 a.m.
    • All ability levels
    • Cost Includes a T-shirt, prizes, giveaways and loads of fun
    • Register in advance at the Recreation Center, online or the day of the event at 10 a.m.
  • Fourth of July Freedom 5k: Monday, July 4 at 9:00 am                
    • Kick-off the 4th of July festivities at Rotarty Park by participating with family and friends in the Annual Fourth of July Freedom 5K+. All ages are welcome to run, walk, stroll, or stride. This event is free!
  • Durango Parks and Recreation Kid's Triathlon (link)               
    • Introducing youth ages 5 to 13 to the world of triathlons. This event prepares youth to compete and creates an opportunity to experience a little competition and good sportsmanship among friends and siblings.
  • Durango Parks and Recreation Adult Triathlon (link)                   
    • A sprint triathlon geared towards the beginner and experienced triathlete.
