Utilities Commission
Utilities Commission Overview
The purpose of the Durango Utilities Commission is to advise City Council on water and wastewater issues and policies such as:
  • Water supply
  • Conservation
  • Construction and use of transportation and storage facilities
  • Water redundancy
  • Quality of drinking water & treated sewer water
  • Water rights
                                       
  • Purification
  • Transporting water to storage facilities
  • Utilization
  • Improvements/expansion of water and sewage systems, including treatment facilities
  • Making such other studies and surveys as are necessary to cover generally all problems concerning the water and wastewater systems
               

The commission also studies state and federal legislation affecting the city in matters pertaining to water, as well as submits reports of studies and surveys with recommendations to the City Council.
