Boards and Commissions
In addition to the thirteen departments that make up the
City of Durango government, there are seventeen boards
and
commissions that help to set policies and provide services
within the City of Durango. These boards, which are composed
primarily of community members, not only give private citizens
the ability to participate in civic action, but also give
voice to specific issues that may not otherwise receive
proper attention.
Approximately 100 volunteers serve on the City's boards
or commissions that have been created either by City regulations,
Council Resolution or Council Ordinance. The responsibilities,
powers, membership size, and meeting schedule vary for each
board and commission.
The City Council continuously seeks nominations of citizens
interested in serving on a board. When vacancies occur,
they are advertised in the local newspaper, on this web
site, and on Government
Access Television City Span 10.
