A Message from Durango's City Manager

Welcome to the Durango City Manager's Office! At the City of Durango, we are excited about creating a thriving, healthy quality of life for our community, while we work hard to keep the flavor of Durango's historical heritage very much alive. With over 550 full and part-time employees, plus seasonal help, our goal is to provide excellence in City Government while progressing toward great results.

First, we care about our community and strive to offer the desired services and facilities that meet our resident's and visitor's needs. Second, we are dedicated to promoting the sustainable economic viability of Durango while we responsibly steward our community's resources. Finally, we have a strong commitment to protect the environment that is shown through the City's "Green efforts" in recycling and in preserving the open space of our natural lands.

Biography

In January of 2008, Ron started his position as Durango's City Manager. Originally from New England, he holds a BA in Political Science and Psychology from Boston College and an MPA from the University of Colorado at Boulder. With professional positions across the U.S. and varied years of experience, Ron brings a wealth of city management knowledge to the table from his positions as: Deputy City Manager of Arvada, CO, City Manager of Springfield, OR, City Manager of Olathe, KS, Town Manager of Groton, CT, and his last appointment as City Administrator of Ketchum, ID.

Ron's credentials range from ICMA Credentialed Manager, the National League of Cities-Transportation Policy Committee Member, and ICMA's Public Policy/International Affairs/Governmental Affairs Committee Member.
