City Manager
Green Team
In August, 2007, the City of Durango established its Green Team with representation from each department to brainstorm government sustainability objectives and strategies, prioritize them, and make recommendations to the City Manager and City Council.
Mission Statement:
We are committed to sustainable development, responsible stewardship of the natural environment and the protection of human health. We seek to minimize natural resource consumption, waste, and adverse environmental impacts while optimizing the use of technology and taxpayer dollars.
Goals:
Recognizing the environmental implications of our activities, the team will research sustainable approaches and develop policies related to the goals and strategies of the comprehensive plan. They will develop practical solutions to help protect our land, water, air, and people so they may thrive. The team will also recommend procedures and develop indicators to measure progress toward sustainable operational and business practices.
Objectives to be addressed include:
- Use Energy Efficiently
