ARTICLE II. GREENMOUNT CEMETERY

Sec. 7-16. Established.

The city having purchased block number one (1), two (2), three (3), four (4) and five (5) of the cemetery grounds in the county and state according to the plat of cemetery grounds on file in the office of the county clerk and county recorder and recorded in book of plat on page 42 of the records of the county the same being about one-half mile west of the city for the purpose of a cemetery, the same is hereby established as a city cemetery to be controlled and regulated by the city council and shall be known as Greenmount Cemetery.

Sec. 7-17. Rules and regulations; recordkeeping.

The city clerk shall keep a record of all rules and regulations in a book to be kept for that purpose and shall keep a separate account to be known as the cemetery account of all revenues coming into his possession from the sale of cemetery lots or other revenues from such cemetery and of all disbursements on account of the cemetery, and shall issue the certificates of purchase of lots as may be prescribed by such rules and regulations.

Sec. 7-18. Appointment of sexton.

The city manager shall appoint a sexton, who shall hold office at the pleasure of the city manager. He shall prepare all graves and perform all other duties prescribed by the city manager or the cemetery committee. The sexton shall be provided with all necessary equipment and supplies and shall have police power to make arrests for the violation of any law, rule or regulation relating to the cemetery.

Sec. 7-19. Determination of rightful lot owner.

Before digging any grave upon any lot in the cemetery the sexton may be fully satisfied as to the rightful owner of the lot, and before performing the service may demand as evidence the production of the certificate of purchase of such lot.

Sec. 7-20. Burial records.

The sexton shall, in a book in the custody of the city clerk, keep a record of any person buried in the cemetery giving name, age, place of birth, number of lot and block, when buried, time of burial and cause of death.
