Building Inspections

24-HOUR NOTICE IS REQUIRED
FOR ALL INSPECTIONS

Call 375-4865 to leave a voice message with the following information:
  • permit number(s)
  • address
  • type of inspection
  • request morning or afternoon

Your inspection will be scheduled the following work day. Inspections will not be performed without required permits. Inspection card(s) and plans must be on job site. Contractor, agent or owner must be present.

Inspection Information

 

Footing - Stem Wall - Foundation

  • After all excavations and trenches are completed

  • All forms and reinforcing steel in place

  • Prior to scheduling concrete delivery

Framing
  • After roof, framing, fire blocking, exterior sheeting, and bracing are in place

  • After chimneys and vents are complete

  • After rough plumbing, heating, and electrical are complete

Plumbing - Rough
  • Installed and tested with water or air, in accordance with the IPC, and observed by the Building Inspector

  • Gas piping is included in rough plumbing inspections

Mechanical - Rough
  • All vents, rough-in ductwork, and draft stops should be completed in accordance with the IMC

Drywall Fire Resistive Assemblies
  • Drywall should be complete and screwed or nailed in accordance with the International Building Code (IBC), Chapter 25 and International Residential Code (IRC) R317 Chapter 3

  • Taping and texturing may occur after inspection

  • Nailing inspections required for engineered diaphragm roof designs and engineered shear wall designs

Finished Building - Certificate of Occupancy - Final Inspection
  • After building is complete

  • Electrical, water, sewer, heating, and cooling tested

  • State Electrical Inspector has signed off on permit and blue inspection card

  • Troubleshooting has corrected any issues

  • Public Works has approved water meter installation

  • Public Works has approved back-flow prevention device

  • Public Works has approved public improvements in right-of-way

  • Driveways must be finished with asphalt or concrete

  • Building address numbers must be posted

  • All site improvements are complete or On Site Improvements Agreement is in place
