Fall Turf Fertilization and Weed Abatement Schedule

The City of Durango promotes Best Management Practices in the stewardship of City lands to ensure the safe enjoyment of parks in the community. The City has contracted with Scott’s Pro-Lawn for turf fertilization and noxious weed abatement. The herbicide that will be used is called Vessel Broadleaf Herbicide and Q4 Turf Herbicide. Applications are conducted to improve the quality of the right-of-ways, parks and open spaces in the City’s system. The weed control is repeatedly tested and approved by the Environmental Protection Agency and Scott’s Pro-Lawn is licensed by the Colorado Department of Agriculture.

Spraying will commence on September 17, 2019 and continue through October 9. Dates are subject to change based on weather conditions.

Tuesday, September 17, 2019 the following areas will be sprayed: Buckley Park, Rotary Park, Chapman Hill turf areas and Downtown Brown.

Thursday, September 19, 2019 the following areas will be sprayed: Crestview Park, Viles Park, Fassbinder Park and Roosa Park.

Tuesday, September 24, 2019 the following area will be sprayed: 3rd Avenue Parkway

Wednesday, September 25, 2019 the following areas will be sprayed: Durango Community Recreation Center turf and Rank Park.

Thursday, September 26, 2019 the following areas will be sprayed:  The Softball Complex at Fort Lewis College, Jenkins Ranch Park and Hillcrest View Park.

Tuesday, October 1, 2019 the following areas will be sprayed: Santa Rita playground turf area and Confluence Park.

Thursday, October 3, 2019 the following areas will be sprayed: Whitewater Park and Historic Tram Park.

Friday, October 4, 2019 the following area will be sprayed: Animas City Park

Sunday, October 6, 2019 the following areas will be sprayed:  Riverview Sports Complex,  Devin Hart Memorial field, Carnegie turf area and Mason turf area.

Tuesday and Wednesday, October 8-9, 2019 the following area will be sprayed: Greenmount Cemetery.
