Friends Of The Library

"The purpose of this organization shall be to maintain an association of persons interested in books and libraries; to focus public attention on library services, facilities and needs; to accept donations of books, desirable collections, endowments, bequests and money; and to engage in fundraising activities on behalf of the library."

Board meetings are held on the first Tuesday of every month, and are open to the public.

The FRIENDS sponsor year-round programs for adults, children and teens. We provide funding for the annual Literary Festival and its guest authors. We help the Durango small-business community through workshops. We have purchased toddler-friendly computers for the Children's library.

Everywhere you go in the library, you'll encounter FRIENDS' contributions, big and small!

Material Donations

We gladly accept gently-used books, DVDs, and Audio Books on CD.

Donated materials will be sold at the Friend’s book store or in book sales, added to the Library’s collection, or recycled responsibly when possible. Items of value are examined and priced by our expert and will be sold either online or at our book sales.

We cannot accept magazines, outdated medical books, textbooks, encyclopedias, CDs, VHS or cassette tapes. Books in poor condition, water-stained, dirty or torn will not be accepted.
